Astm A588 A242 Weathering Steel Plate Sheet

Atmospheric corrosion-resistant steel (ie, weathering steel) refers to a low-alloy steel with good atmospheric corrosion resistance made by adding a certain amount of alloying elements such as Cu, P, C, or Ni, Mo, Nb, and Ti to the steel. In industrial and rural atmospheric environments, weathering steel has excellent resistance to atmospheric corrosion due to the formation of a dense and stable oxide protective film on the surface of its substrate, which hinders the entry of corrosive media and has excellent resistance to atmospheric corrosion. The structure of the rust layer is loose and has micro-cracks, which cannot really protect the base steel.
